Classic Stone Fireplaces

Good Monday Morning!  If it’s Monday it must be Design Day!

I hope you had a lovely weekend.  My hubby and I are in the market for a new home so I have seen quite a few fireplaces lately. Some really beautiful ones and some rather funky ones. I hope I don’t hurt anybody’s feelings with my following post.  I will try to be gentle.
This is one of my favorites!  I love when you can sit on the hearth and the scale of this fireplace seems to really work.

The sconces seem to have just the correct amount of weight to be perfect for this stone fireplace!

I’ve always wanted a fireplace in the kitchen, ahhh…….

If you look closely you can see that those are strips of wood placed in between the stone layers. I think it adds a contemporary edge to this very classic stone fireplace.  I love the niches too, although the little animals are lost in them.

Okay, here is where I am going to try to be gentle but SERIOUSLY??    Couldn’t they decide between brick or stone?  I guess they got the best of both worlds.

Surprisingly, I really like this stone work. It is so neat and precise. Notice the angle of the fireplace. Awesome!

Another classic beauty!

This one is a good example of what we can do with those simple builder fireplaces that so many of us have.

Can’t you just see this fireplace in a home built in 1776.  I love how they used the mantle as a pot rack. Very clever!

Okay, this is the one that I thought might get me into trouble but once again, SERIOUSLY??  Are those fake rocks and guess what, it looks like this is 2 sided so this lucky homeowner gets to see 2 sides of this monstrosity!  (please don’t write me any mean e-mails)

Let’s end with this beautiful fireplace!  I love the simplicity of it. This could be in a mid-century home or even something more modern.

We’ll see you back on Wednesday with a great  PORTABLE way to organize your jewelry !

That one huge stone fireplace looks like a giant paw slammed through the ceiling and got stuck. LOVE the round river rock fireplace…different without trying so hard.

The last one is my favorite paired with more modern funishings!

Beautiful fireplaces … I am totally focused on fireplaces with tv's above them right now as I work on a client's home … these stone ones are gorgeous (with a few exceptions!) Thanks for stopping by my blog … look forward to seeing more of what you are up to!
